The Mall at Rockingham Park is Salem’s indoor shopping center: two levels at 99 Rockingham Park Blvd., just off I-93 Exit 1 on the New Hampshire–Massachusetts border. Simon manages it and counts more than 150 stores, from Macy’s and JCPenney to Apple and Sephora, with a Cinemark next door. Regular hours are 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. New Hampshire has no sales tax, so nothing you buy here gets a tax added at the register.

  • Address: 99 Rockingham Park Blvd., Salem, NH 03079
  • Getting here: I-93 Exit 1, the first exit in New Hampshire
  • Hours: Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Friday–Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Shopping line: (603) 894-4411

Holiday hours change, and some stores and restaurants keep their own schedules. Check the mall’s hours page before Thanksgiving week or Christmas Eve, and see our Black Friday guide for the holiday weekend.

The mall opened in August 1991 next to the Rockingham Park racetrack and covers about 1 million square feet. Its lineup has shifted over 35 years. Sears closed in 2018. Lord & Taylor, which opened its only New Hampshire store here in 2012, closed in August 2020, and its building is now becoming a casino.

Anchor stores and what else is inside

  • Macy’s: 85 Rockingham Park Blvd., (603) 890-3800.
  • JCPenney: 81 Rockingham Park Blvd., (603) 893-4322.
  • DICK’S House of Sport: the large-format version of the sporting goods chain, a format built around extras like a climbing wall and TrackMan golf bays.
  • Apple Rockingham Park: (603) 328-3140.

Beyond the anchors, the mall names Sephora, lululemon, Coach, Altar’d State and Blue Nile among its stores. In April 2026, REBusinessOnline reported that Gorjana, OFFLINE by Aerie and lululemon had opened stores in recent weeks, with Rowan, an ear-piercing studio, due soon. The Eagle-Tribune listed Carter’s, New Balance and POP MART among the mall’s 2026 additions. Stores come and go, so if you are making the trip for one shop, call ahead.

Every purchase here is free of New Hampshire sales tax. If you live in Massachusetts, read our New Hampshire sales tax guide for what your home state says about use tax.

Where to eat at the mall

For a sit-down meal, the mall points shoppers to Red Robin. For a quick bite, it names Appleseed Crepe & Bread in the Dining Pavilion, and Auntie Anne’s pretzels are inside too. The Cinemark next door has a bar and an expanded menu of pizza, burgers, chicken tenders and fries.

Two Fenway-area concepts, Game On and Loretta’s Last Call, were announced for fall 2026. Check that they are open before you plan a night around them. New Hampshire’s 8.5% meals tax applies to restaurant checks here, as it does everywhere in the state. For more options a few minutes away, see Where to Eat.

Movies: Cinemark Rockingham Park and XD

Cinemark announced the 12-screen theater at 15 Mall Road in February 2020. It sits in its own building beside the mall, near the former Sears Auto Center, so it has its own entrance. Inside:

  • Cinemark XD, the chain’s premium large-format auditorium
  • D-BOX motion seats
  • Luxury Lounger recliners, heated in select auditoriums, with reserved seating
  • A bar, the expanded menu and a birthday party room

Showtimes and tickets are on cinemark.com. A movie is also one of the easiest answers on a wet day; our rainy-day guide has more.

Parking, amenities and tips

Simon lists parking, accessible parking and EV charging stations at the mall. Inside, its amenity list includes family restrooms, a nursing mothers’ lounge, strollers, complimentary wheelchairs, Wi-Fi, an ATM, curbside pickup, lost and found, and a security and police substation. Mall security is at (603) 894-5570.

  • Park near your first stop. The anchors have their own entrances, and the Cinemark is a separate building.
  • Pair it with Tuscan Village. The village is also at Exit 1, with free parking; see our Tuscan Village visitor guide.
  • Bring the receipts home. Useful if your home state asks about use tax.

Visiting at the holidays

In 2025, Santa’s photo set was in the JCPenney Court on Level 1, with visits booked through whereissanta.com, and the mall held a “Caring Santa” morning, a sensory-friendly visit for children with special needs and their families. The 2026 Santa schedule had not been posted in early October, so check the mall’s events page in November. Check holiday hours closer to Thanksgiving, too.

What’s next: the Rockingham Grand

The mall’s biggest change is under construction in the former Lord & Taylor building. Churchill Downs, the company behind the Kentucky Derby, is turning it into the Rockingham Grand, a three-floor, 160,000-square-foot venue scheduled to open in mid-2027. The plans call for about 825 historical racing machines, 32 gaming tables, sports betting, a 900-seat entertainment venue, a center bar and a sports bar and restaurant. Guests must be 21 or older.

The name goes back more than a century. Rockingham Park opened as a horse track on June 28, 1906, Seabiscuit raced there in 1935 and 1936, and the track closed on Aug. 31, 2016, after 110 years. The mall opened beside it in 1991 and kept the name; Tuscan Village now stands on the old track.

Casino Salem, which operated there before, closed March 9, 2026, for the construction. Until the Grand opens, Churchill Downs points card players to Chasers Poker Room at 7 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
