Exit 1: The Artisan at Tuscan Village

The Artisan Hotel at Tuscan Village is part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, a collection of independent boutique hotels. It opened in 2023 with 165 rooms and suites on the main street of Tuscan Village. The hotel lists an outdoor pool and lounge, a fitness center and three places to eat and drink in the building: Tuscan Kitchen on the ground floor, The Rooftop upstairs and Caffè Artisan off the lobby. There are about 12,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom.

Walk out the door and you are at Lake Park, the shops of Tuscan Village and Whole Foods Market. The Mall at Rockingham Park is at the same exit. Current packages include a Breakfast & Parking offer with self-parking, and a Discover Tuscan Village package with a $50 voucher, valid for stays through May 31, 2027. Call (603) 912-8450 or see the hotel’s website. Our Tuscan Village visitor guide covers what’s around it.

Tips for booking a hotel in Salem

  • Add 8.5% to every rate. New Hampshire’s Meals and Rooms (Rentals) Tax applies to hotel rooms and any place with sleeping accommodations, short-term rentals included, for stays of fewer than 185 consecutive days. Our New Hampshire sales tax guide explains it.
  • Book early for Canobie weekends. In fall, the park runs Screeemfest Friday through Sunday until Oct. 31, 2026.
  • Read the fine print on pets and parking. Holiday Inn charges $5 a day to park and $50 a night for a pet; Red Roof lets one pet stay free; La Quinta parks you free.
  • Make sure it’s Salem, NH. At least one booking site we checked listed a Salem, NH motel as being in Massachusetts. Look for “NH” and the 03079 ZIP code on your confirmation. More in Salem NH vs Salem MA.
  • No casino hotel yet. The announced plans for the Rockingham Grand, due at the mall in mid-2027, do not include a hotel.

When to book, season by season

  • Summer: Canobie Lake Park’s season starts in mid-May; in 2026 it opened May 16, and 2027 marks 125 years since the park opened.
  • Fall: Screeemfest nights at Canobie run Fridays 5–11 p.m., Saturdays 3–11 p.m. and most Sundays 1–9 p.m. through Oct. 31. Tuscan Village holds its Parmigiano Reggiano Festival Oct. 10–11.
  • Holidays: the Holiday Shoppes at Tuscan Village run Nov. 6–Dec. 24, the village tree lighting is Nov. 21, and the Salem Holiday Parade steps off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.
  • Year-round: America’s Stonehenge, at 105 Haverhill Road in North Salem, is open daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m. except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Getting around from your hotel

Salem is easiest by car. Without one, Boston Express buses to South Station and Logan leave from the Salem Transportation Center at Exit 2, and the fare-free MeVa Route 28 bus to Lawrence stops at Mass General Brigham in Tuscan Village, a short walk from The Artisan.
